Tasiusaq was founded in 1940 and Klaus K. Frederiksen is the third generation to run the place, together with his wife Aviâja. They have approximately 620 sheep, the meat from which forms their main source of income.
Aviâja and Klaus opened Sermilikfjord Hostels in July 2014. The youth hostel is situated with a wonderful view of the bay, with ice floes. To find your way to Tasiusaq, you can walk along the road to Qassiarsuk/Brattahlið. Alternatively, it is possible to arrange to be picked up and taken to Tasiusaq, which lies 7 kilometres over the mountains, on the other side of Qassiarsuk
