Tasiusaq was founded in 1940 and Klaus K. Frederiksen is the third generation to run the place, together with his wife Aviâja. They have approximately 620 sheep, the meat from which forms their main source of income.
Aviâja and Klaus opened Sermilikfjord Hostels in July 2014. The youth hostel is situated with a wonderful view of the bay, with ice floes. In a 2-3 hour walking, you will reach a good view towards the ice cap and with beautiful area. Moreover Tasiusaq surrounded by many Norse ruins are also be looking at.

To find your way to Tasiusaq, you can walk along the road to Qassiarsuk/Brattahlið. Alternatively, it is possible to arrange to be picked up and taken to Tasiusaq, which lies 7 kilometres over the mountains, on the other side of Qassiarsuk
